Farmingdale, N.Y. - In a home non-conference men's soccer game, Farmingdale State fell, 2-1, to New York University this evening.
With 15:16 remaining in the first half, the Violets (4-6) took a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by sophomore forward Malcolm Montilus (Mendham, N.J.)
Farmingdale State (6-5) tied the game at 1-1 in the 69th minute as freshman forward Richard Mastrangelo III (Dix Hills, N.Y.) scored from 10 yards out off the corner kick by Sebastian Morales (South Ozone Park, N.Y.).
Only 3:38 later, NYU regained the lead at 2-1 on a goal by freshman forward Evan Reifsnyder (Waban, Mass.) as Tristan Medios-Simon (Kailua, Hawaii) recorded the assist.
The Rams were unable to score over the final minutes as they fell, 2-1.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jeff Valencia (Levittown, N.Y.) stopped two shots for the Rams, while junior Lucas Doucette (San Diego, Calif.) had two saves for NYU.
Farmingdale State next will travel to Yeshiva University for a Skyline Conference game on Thursday, October 8th at 8:30 p.m.
