
Brooklyn College - 2, Farmingdale State - 1 (OT)
Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team suffered a 2-1 overtime loss to Brooklyn College last night in a non-conference game. The Rams now stand at 0-3 overall, while the Bulldogs improved to 1-1 on the year.
Just 16:38 into the game, Farmingdale grabbed a 1-0 advantage after an own goal by the Brooklyn defense. The Rams held the Bulldogs to just five shots in the first half.
In the second, Brooklyn took 15 shots and was able to tie the game at the 53-minute mark when senior midfielder Sirojiddin Shamsiev (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored off a pass from junior midfielder Kenny Benitez (Brooklyn, N.Y.).
Junior goalkeeper Kevin Gordillo (Flushing, N.Y.) made seven saves in the second half to hold off the Bulldogs and send the game into overtime, but Benitez scored on a free kick for Brooklyn just 2:23 into the overtime period for the non-conference victory.
Farmingdale State will now host Medgar Evers on Saturday, September 12th in their home opener at Noon.
