Farmingdale, N.Y. - With six second half goals, the Farmingdale State men's soccer team picked up a 6-0 conference victory over Sarah Lawrence today to improve to 5-8-1 overall, 2-2-1 in the Skyline. The visiting Gryphons fell to 2-9, 0-5 in conference play.
A slow first half saw 12 shots from the Rams, but none would find the back of the net as James Berry made five saves to keep the game scoreless at the break.
In the second, Farmingdale State broke the tie in the 54th minute as junior midfielder Victor Romero (Bay Shore, N.Y.) headed a throw-in from junior midfielder Anthony Leonick (Levittown, N.Y.) to make it 1-0. A minute and a half later, junior midfielder J.T. Famularo (Levittown, N.Y.) sent a shot home off a pass from freshman forward Samuele Riva (Cadrezzate, Italy) for the 2-0 lead.
In the final 20 minutes of play, the Rams added four more goals with scores from junior midfielder Diego Sarmiento (Lindenhurst, N.Y.), sophomore midfielder Andrew Ingargiola (Kings Park, N.Y.), Famularo and Riva.
Farmingdale State will now face Old Westbury on Tuesday, October 14th at 3:00 p.m.
