Rams and Privateers End in Scoreless Draw

Throggs Neck, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team finished in a 0-0 double overtime tie against Maritime College on Thursday night in a Skyline matchup. The Rams (4-8-1, 1-2-1 Skyline) outshot the Privateers (5-5-1, 1-1-1 Skyline) 28-9, but could not find the back of the net.

Farmingdale outshot Maritime 16-2 in the opening half, as the Privateers' junior goalkeeper Karl Weber (Northport, N.Y.)  made eight saves to keep the game scoreless at the break.

The play evened out in the second half, as the Rams led the shots by a margin of 8-6. Most of the Rams' chances came early in the half, with the Privateers taking over momentum late. Maritime had four great chances in the final 10 minutes of regulation, but Rams freshman goalkeeper Robert Tucker (Oceanside, N.Y.) made three stops and had a defender block another shot to keep the game scoreless.

The Rams held a 4-1 shot advantage in the two overtime periods, but the game ended scoreless after 110 minutes of play.

Farmingdale State now hosts Sarah Lawrence on Saturday, October 11th in a conference game at 1:00 p.m.
