Two Second Half Scores Leads Purchase Past Rams

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team fell, 2-0, against Purchase in a Skyline Conference game this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y.

In a scoreless first half, Farmingdale State (3-7, 0-2) controlled the offense as they outshot the Panthers (5-3-1, 2-0-1) 11-4 and held a 4-0 corner kick advantage.

Only 1:48 after the halftime break, senior forward Andres Romero (Port Chester, N.Y.) scored on a quick pass in front by junior Renato Martins (Sao Paulo, Brazil) to put Purchase ahead, 1-0.

In the 84th minute, the Panthers increased their lead to 2-0 after senior midfielder Junior Sanguina (White Plains, N.Y.) netted a cross in front from Myles Clohessy (Cornwall, Conn.).

The Rams were unable to score over the final minutes as they dropped the conference matchup, 2-0.

Freshman goalkeeper Robert Tucker (Oceanside, N.Y.) recorded three saves for the Rams, while junior Esteban Aguilar (East Hampton, N.Y.) stopped seven shots for Purchase.

Farmingdale State next will travel to NYU for a non-conference game on Tuesday, September 30th at 7:00 p.m.
