
Mount Saint Mary College - 3, Farmingdale State - 2 F/OT
Newburgh, N.Y. - Junior midfielder Michael Ennis (Carmel, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal 5:52 into overtime to lead Mount Saint Mary College to a 3-2 Skyline Conference victory over Farmingdale State. The Rams fell to 2-6 overall and 0-1 in conference play, while the Knights improved to 4-2-1, 1-0.
The Rams took an early 1-0 lead in the 7th minute on a J.T. Famularo (Levittown, N.Y.) header off the free kick by Victor Romero (Bay Shore, N.Y.). Only 7:51 later, senior forward Matt Garcia (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) scored to tie the game at 1-1. Mount Saint Mary sophomore Matt Minniter (Mahopac, N.Y.) recorded the final goal of the first half to put the Knights ahead 2-1 at the halftime break.
With 28:55 remaining in the second half, freshman forward Samuele Riva (Cadrezzate, Italy) scored off Anthony Leonick's (Levittown, N.Y.) throw in to even the score at 2-2. Neither team would score throughout the remainder of regulation.
With 3:08 left to play in the first overtime, Ennis connected on the winning score to lead the Knights to victory in the conference opener.
Farmingdale State next will play host to York (NY) in a non-conference match on Monday, September 22nd at 4:00 p.m.
