Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team fell, 1-0, to Brooklyn College in a non-conference game this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y.
The Bulldogs (1-4) opened the scoring only eight minutes into the game as sophomore midfielder Kenny Benitez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) lofted a shot over the Farmingdale State (1-4) goalkeeper from 20 yards out. In the first half, Brooklyn held an 11-4 shot advantage with only two of the shots coming on goal.
With just under 32:00 remaining in the game, Farmingdale State senior midfielder Julian Munera (Rego Park, N.Y.) nearly tied the game as his shot from 15 yards out hit the crossbar.
The Rams were held scoreless the remainder of the way as Brooklyn picked up their first win of the 2014 season.
Freshman goalie Robert Tucker (Oceanside, N.Y.) recorded four saves for Farmingdale State, while sophomore Ilya Keygen (Brooklyn, N.Y.) stopped two shots for Brooklyn.
The Rams next will host non-conference opponent Cairn on Saturday, September 13th at 2:00 p.m.
