Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team was defeated 5-1 by host school Vassar College during the second day of the Vassar Invitational in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The home Brewers were the only team to post a perfect 2-0 record this weekend.
With 9:56 remaining in the first half, Vassar (4-0-1) scored the games opening goal as senior defender Zach Nasipak (Chandler, Ariz.) connected off the pass from Gavin Jennings (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.). Only 4:50 later, Farmingdale State (1-3) freshman forward Samuele Riva (Cadrezzate, Italy) scored an unassisted goal to even the score at 1-1. Vassar's Noah Snider (Laramie, Wyoming) added a late score to give the Brewers a 2-1 halftime advantage.
In the second half, Vassar outscored the Rams 3-0 en route to a 5-1 non-conference victory.
Freshman goalkeeper Jonathan Baumer (Ridge, N.Y.) tallied 11 saves for Farmingdale State.
The Rams next will host Brooklyn College in a non-conference game on Wednesday, September 10th at 4:00 p.m.
