
Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team fell, 2-1, in the Skyline Conference Championship game at Mount Saint Mary College as the Knights scored the game-winner with 57 seconds remaining. The Rams finished the year with a 9-7-4 overall record and were 4-2-3 in the Skyline Conference.
Senior goalkeeper Angelo Viteritti (Huntington, N.Y.) and sophomore midfielder Victor Romero (Bay Shore, N.Y.) were each named First Team All-Conference and Second Team All-ECAC. Senior defender Joe Lipsky (Plainview, N.Y.) earned Second Team All-Skyline Conference honors.
Viteritti, the Skyline Defensive Player of the Year, started 19 games in goal with a 1.15 goals against average, 112 saves and eight shutouts. He ranked 40th in the nation for saves, 41st for save percentage and 63rd for saves per game (5.89). Viteritti led the conference in shutouts this season.
Romero started every game and was second on the Rams with five goals, while sophomore midfielder J.T. Famularo (Levittown, N.Y.) scored five goals and led the team in assists (6) and points (16). Sophomore midfielder Diego Sarmiento (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) tallied a team-leading seven goals and recorded two game-winning scores. Senior midfielder Matt Kirby (West Islip, N.Y.) scored two goals and added four assists on the year.
The Rams graduated five seniors this season.
