Rams Fall in Heartbreaker at MSMC

#3 Mount Saint Mary - 2, #5 Farmingdale State - 1


Newburgh, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team fell, 2-1, in the Championship game on a last minute goal by Mount Saint Mary to capture the 2013 Skyline Men's Soccer Title. The Rams finished the season with a 9-7-4 record, while the Knights receive the conference's automatic bid and head to the NCAA Tournament with a record of 13-4-3.

Mount Saint Mary grabbed a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute on a goal 18 yards out by junior forward Matt Garcia (Wappinger Falls, N.Y.). The Knights would lead 1-0 at the break as they held an 11-3 shot advantage. Farmingdale State's senior goalkeeper Angelo Viteritti (Huntington, N.Y.) tallied five saves in the half.

In the second, the Rams tied the game 1-1 with a goal by sophomore midfielder J.T. Famularo (Levittown, N.Y.) who tipped in a rebound in front.

With only 57 seconds remaining, Mount Saint Mary sophomore midfielder Michael Ennis (Carmel, N.Y.) broke free from the defense on the left side and sent home the game-winning score to the lower right corner for a 2-1 Knights victory.

Viteritti finished with six saves for Farmingdale State, while senior goalkeeper Matt Darling (Staatsburg, N.Y.) made just three stops for the win.

Mount Saint Mary will await word of their NCAA opponent, which will be announced on Monday, November 11th at 1:00 p.m. on ncaa.com.
