Farmingdale, N.Y. - Sophomore midfielder Alexis Escobar (Hicksville, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal with 7:07 remaining in double overtime as the Rams defeated NYU, 1-0. Farmingdale State improved to 4-5 on the season, while NYU fell to 6-2-1.
NYU outshot the Rams 6-1 in the first half and held a 5-4 advantage in the second half. Neither team was able to score in either regulation or the first overtime period.
In double overtime, senior goalkeeper Angelo Viteritti (Huntington, N.Y.) punted the ball three quarters of the field leading to a breakaway score by Escobar.
Farmingdale State next will travel to Yeshiva for a Skyline Conference game on Tuesday, October 1st at 2:00 p.m.
