Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team fell, 2-0, in a non-conference game against William Paterson this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams now stand at 1-4 on the year, while the Pioneers improved to 5-0-1.
In a first half where William Paterson held a 9-0 shot advantage, sophomore midfielder Jose Arevalo (North Haledon, N.J.) broke the scoreless tie in the 42nd minute with a goal from 15 yards out. The Pioneers took a 1-0 advantage into the halftime break.
Averalo scored his second goal of the game with 15:17 remaining after being set up in front by freshman forward Leandro Lemache (Carteret, N.J.). William Paterson held Farmingdale State scoreless the rest of the way to seal the 2-0 victory.
Senior goalkeeper Angelo Viteritti (Huntington, N.Y.) made a season-high 11 saves for the Rams.
Farmingdale State next will travel to Brooklyn College for a non-conference game on Wednesday, September 18th at 4:30 p.m.
