New Haven, Conn. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team opened the 2013 season with a 2-0 non-conference victory over Albertus Magnus this afternoon in New Haven, Conn.
After a scoreless first half, the Rams took a 1-0 lead only 8:17 after the break on a Joseph Dettori (Bay Shore, N.Y.) goal after he was setup with a cross in front by J.T. Famularo (Levittown, N.Y.). Farmingdale State increased the lead to 2-0 with a Tyler Rollman (West Islip, N.Y.) score as both Dettori and Matt Kirby (West Islip, N.Y.) recorded the assists.
Albertus Magnus outshot the Rams 17-15 and held a 4-1 corner kick advantage but were unable to score as senior goalkeeper Angelo Viteritti (Huntington, N.Y.) had six saves in the victory for Farmingdale State.
Falcons' senior goalie Donato Piroscafo (Naugatuck, Conn.) tallied six saves in the loss.
The Rams next will travel to Baruch for a non-conference game on Wednesday, September 4th at 5:00 p.m.
