NYU-Poly - 2, Farmingdale State - 1
Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team fell, 2-1, to NYU Poly in a home Skyline Conference match on senior day. Midfielder Brian Anderson (Massapequa, N.Y.), goalkeeper Ricky Meschkow (Plainview, N.Y.) and defender Jose Ipince (Lima, Peru) each played in their final regular season home game this afternoon.
Farmingdale State (6-8-1, 4-3) junior defender Matt Kirby (West Islip, N.Y.) broke the scoreless tie as her recorded an unassisted goal with 5:56 remaining in the first half. The Rams outshout the Fighting Blue Jays (7-8, 4-3) 6-1 in the half.
In the second half, NYU-Poly evened the score in the 65th minute as junior midfielder Giovanni Ormaeche (Ramsey, N.J.) scored on a header off the corner kick by senior midfielder Allen Rohr (Northridge, Cal.) The Fighting Blue Jays took a 2-1 advantage with only 18:19 remaining as Rohr scored from in front.The Rams had a scoring opportunity with under five minutes to play but a diving save by sophomore goalie Brendan Finn (New Canaan, Conn) sealed the victory for the Fighting Blue jays.
The Rams next will travel to Maritime for a Skyline Conference game on Thursday, October 18 th 7:00 p.m.
