Rams Fall to Scranton in Season Opener

Scranton, PA - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team fell, 4-0, in their 2012 season opener last night at the University of Scranton. The Royals held a decisive 25-3 shot advantage in the victory.

Scranton (1-0) broke the scoreless tie with 31:09 remaining in the first half as sophomore forward Kevin Kozic (Raritan, N.J.) netted a header off the entry pass by senior forward Bill McGuiness (Forty Fort, Pa.). Sophomore midfielder Rich Leoffler (Matawan, N.J.) put the Royals on top 2-0 after being set up by McGuiness with 14:11 left before halftime. Less than eight minutes later, freshman forward Ryan Smith (Maple Glen, Pa.) scored on a header to increase Scranton's lead to 3-0. The Royals outshot the Rams 13-0 in the first half.

McGuiness' unassisted goal with 26:14 left to play was the games final score as the Royals capped off a 4-0 victory. 

Farmingdale State next will travel to King's (Pa.) for a non-conference game on Saturday, September 1st at 3:30 p.m.
