Rams Fall in Double Overtime on Senior Day

Farmingdale, N.Y. – The Farmingdale State men's soccer team played in their final regular-season game today and fell to conference opponent Mount Saint Mary College, 2-1, in double overtime. Today was senior day for Tyler Balzer (Huntington, N.Y.), Jordan Bousquet (Ridge, N.Y.), Michael Curatolo (East Meadow, N.Y.) and Nick Herrera (Massapequa, N.Y.).

The first goal was scored by sophomore midfielder Brandon Mincher (Bayport, N.Y.) on a penalty kick in the 20th minute. Mincher shot to the bottom left corner as a diving keeper went to the right.

In the second, the Rams got on the board with a goal from freshman forward Robert Hein (West Islip, N.Y.) on a deflection of a shot by senior forward Tyler Balzer to tie the game at 1-1 with 34 minutes to play in regulation.

The golden goal was scored by Knights junior forward Matt Pagano (Mahopac, N.Y.) with 4:22 on the clock in the second overtime, as he took streaked down the left side towards the goal and was able to beat the goalie for the game-winner.

The Rams end the season with a 4-12 record, 3-6 in the Skyline. The Knights await the results of the remaining conference games to receive a playoff bid with a record of 7-8-1, 4-5 in conference play.
