Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team fell 6-0 today in a non-conference game against the visiting Manhattanville Valiants (6-1). The Rams now stand at 2-6 on the season and will resume their conference schedule on Saturday, September 24th against NYU-Poly at Aviator Field at 1:00 p.m.
Manhattanville opened the scoring in the 29th minute and never looked back as they held a 3-0 lead at the half and a 28-3 shot advantage for the game. Junior forward Eros Olazabal (Milton, Ontario) scored a hat trick for the Valiants, along with adding two assists. Senior midfielder Keston George (Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago), Eduardo Salgado and freshman midfielder Yani Quinteros (Shirley, N.Y.) scored the other goals for Manhattanville.
For Farmingdale State, freshman goalkeeper Matthew Ward (Farmingdale, N.Y.) tied a school record with 15 saves in defeat. He tied a school record held by two former goalies, both current members of the Rams Athletics staff - Patric Santiago and Patrick Gubbins.
The Rams' eight remaining games are all Skyline games.
