Rams Roll with Win Over Yeshiva

Farmingdale State - 7, Yeshiva - 0


Purchase, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team defeated Yeshiva University, 7-0, Thursday evening in Purchase, N.Y. The Rams improved to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the Skyline Conference.

Senior forward Tyler Balzer (Huntington, N.Y.) gave Farmingdale State an early 1-0 advantage as he scored the games first goal after being setup by sophomore midfielder Tyler Rollman (West Islip, N.Y.) at the 10:13 mark. Balzer and Rollman connected for the score again four minutes later, increasing Farmingdale State's lead to 2-0. Freshman forward Thomas Sammut (Farmingdale, N.Y.) scored for the Rams in the 21st minute, before sophomore midfielder Renato Ipince (Lima, Peru) tacked on Farmingdale State's fourth goal only five minutes later. The Rams outshot Yeshiva (0-2, 0-2) 16-1 in the first half and took a 4-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half, freshman forward Joseph Dettori (Bay Shore, N.Y.) scored a pair of goals, each assisted by sophomore defender Anthony Sammut (Farmingdale, N.Y.). Freshman midfielder Jonathan Potter (Holtsville, N.Y.) tallied Farmingdale State's final goal as freshman Robert Hein (West Islip, N.Y.) recorded the assist as the Rams capped off a 7-0 shutout victory.

The Rams next will host UMass-Boston in a non-conference matchup on Saturday, September 10th at 1:00 p.m.
