2010 Men's Soccer Season Recap


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team finished the year with a 9-10-1 overall record, including 7-3 in the Skyline Conference. The Rams earned the number two seed in the playoffs but fell to Old Westbury 3-1 in the semifinal round.

Farmingdale State had three players earn All-Skyline Conference honors. Senior midfielder Mathew Arthurs (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) and junior defender Michael Curatolo (East Meadow, N.Y.) received First Team All-Skyline honors and senior midfielder Alex Mendolia (Smithtown, N.Y.) was named to the Second Team.

Arthurs was tied for the team-high in goals scored with three, including one game-winner. Arthurs from his midfield position and Curatolo on defense controlled the Skyline's top ranked defense and helped Farmingdale State finish fourth in the conference with 19 goals in 10 Skyline games. Mendolia scored three goals and had two assists for eight points which was second on the team.

Freshman forward Rafal Jurkowski (West Babylon, N.Y.) and sophomore midfielder Brian Anderson (Massapequa, N.Y.) each scored three goals this season for Farmingdale State. Two of Anderson's three goals were game-winning scores and he also recorded a team-high three assists.

The Rams will be graduating four seniors (Matt Tennie, Ray Levan, Arthurs and Mendolia) and returning 26-of-30 players for the 2011 season.
