Anderson's Penalty Kick Goal Leads Rams in Double OT Thriller

Farmingdale, N.Y - Sophomore midfielder Brian Anderson (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) scored on a penalty kick in double overtime, leading Farmingdale State to a Skyline Conference win over NYU-Poly. The Rams earned their first conference win of the season and improved to 2-8 overall, 1-2 in the Skyline. The Fighting Bluejays fell to 6-2-1, 0-1 in conference play.

Sophomore forward Mamadou Dianko (Dakar, Senegal/Cours Sainte Marie of Hann) put NYU-Poly on the board 3:39 into the match as he scored an unassisted goal.

In the second half, junior goalkeeper Ricky Meschkow (Plainview, N.Y./Plainview-Old Bethpage) cleared the ball down the field and it was headed into the net by a Fighting Bluejay, as the Rams scored an own goal in the 70th minute. The own goal tied the game at 1-1. The match remained deadlocked at 1-1 and headed to overtime.

After a scoreless first overtime, Anderson was awarded a penalty kick with 8:14 to play and scored in the left side of the net, leading Farmingdale State to victory.

The Rams will host Brooklyn College in a non-conference matchup on Monday, September 27th at 4:00 p.m.
