
Rams Eliminated in Skyline Semifinals
Old Westbury - 3, Farmingdale State - 2
Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team was defeated 3-2 this afternoon by conference rival Old Westbury in the Skyline Conference semifinals.
Old Westbury, who led throughout, scored the games first goal with 3:30 remaining in the first half. Brian Hanley (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) scored an unassisted goal from 20 yards out, giving the Panthers the lead at halftime.
Old Westbury's Ugur Kahveci (West Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) increased their lead to 2-0, scoring in the 52nd minute. Farmingdale's Joe Brantmeyer (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) answered four minutes later, scoring off a feed from Matuesz Aniolowski. Edwin Mejia (Uniondale, N.Y./Uniondale) scored on a header from Fabian Santibanez, (Oyster Bay, N.Y./Oyster Bay) as Old Westbury recaptured the two goal lead. Frank Volante (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Farmingdale) would score the games final goal at the 85:00 mark on a header off Michael Curatolo's (East Meadow, N.Y./W.T. Clarke) pass from midfield. The Rams pressed to tie the game, but were unable to get the equalizer.
Farmingdale State awaits word on an ECAC bid which will be announced this Monday.
