Manhattanville Edges Rams in Double Overtime
Manhattanville - 1, Farmingdale State - 0
Farmingdale, N.Y. - A goal with 1:22 seconds
remaining in the second overtime period lifted the Valients
(10-4-1) over Farmingdale State this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y.
The Rams closed out the regular season today, holding an overall
record of 8-7-1.
Mahnattanville held a considerable 19-2 shot advantage over Farmingdale State in regulation; however, neither team was able to score.
In the second overtime, Marco Blasetti (Yonkers, N.Y.) headed Adam Kent's (London, England) corner kick into teammate Sebastian Siring (Port Chester, N.Y.), who deflected the ball into the net for the game-winning score.
Senior goalkeeper Patrick Gubbins (East Patchogue, N.Y./Bellport) played the first half for the Rams and had five saves, while sophomore Ricky Meschkow (Plainview, N.Y./Plainview) was in goal for the final 63 minutes recording seven saves. Junior Jason Torres (Harrison, N.Y.) had three saves in the win for Mahnattanville.
Farmingdale State has clinched the number two seed for the Skyline Playoffs with a 6-2 conference record. They will host the Semifinal Round of the playoffs on Thursday, November 5th.
