Gubbins Earns Third Straight Shutout in Win over NYU-Poly

Farmingdale State - 2, NYU-Poly - 0

Brooklyn, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team (5-4-1, 4-1 Skyline) defeated NYU-Poly (5-6, 1-1 Skyline) 2-0, Saturday evening in Brooklyn, N.Y. The Rams have not allowed a goal in the last three games (3-0). Senior goalkeeper Patrick Gubbins (East Patchogue, N.Y./Bellport) has started all the games for Farmingdale over that span.

Junior forward Ryan Paul (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) scored off the pass from freshman midfielder Joe Brantmeyer (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) only 10 minutes into the contest, putting Farmingdale ahead 1-0. The Rams would take the 1-0 advantage into the locker room.

In the second, Brantmeyer scored an own goal off a corner kick at the 70:35 mark. Farmingdale would hold on for the 2-0 road victory.

Gubbins had six saves in goal for the Rams, while senior goalie Rob Petri (St. Louis, MO./St. John's Vianney) had five saves for NYU-Poly.

Farmingdale will travel to Purchase College for a Skyline Conference game on Tuesday, October 6th at 7:00pm.
