Rams Hold Off Maritime for Conference Win
Farmingdale State - 1, Maritime - 0
Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's
soccer team held off Maritime College for a 1-0 victory at home
this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams have won two
consecutive games to get back to .500, currently holding a 4-4-1
(3-1 Skyline) record, while the Privateers dropped to 6-3 (1-1
Skyline).
Maritime controlled the shot and corner kick advantage over Farmingdale State. They out shot the Rams 13-8 and attempted seven more corner kicks (9-2) in the game.
Sophomore midfielder Ryan Lang (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) broke the 0-0 tie with a lobbed shot over the goalkeeper, putting Farmingdale up 1-0 with 23 minutes remaining. Neither team would allow a goal over the final minutes, giving the Rams the 1-0 win.
Senior goalkeeper Patrick Gubbins (East Patchogue, N.Y./Bellport) had seven saves for Farmingdale State.
The Rams travel to NYU-Poly for a Skyline Conference game on Saturday, October 3rd at 7:00pm.
