
Rams Fall in Championship Game

Farmingdale, N.Y. – The Farmingdale State
men’s soccer team fell 1-0 in the Skyline Conference
Championship game this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y.
After Farmingdale had two goals waved off due to offside calls, freshman Greg Apicella scored on a breakaway off a rebound of a shot for St. Joseph’s. The Rams took 16 shots in the game, nine of which were on goal but they were unable to score.
Junior goalkeeper Patrick Gubbins had three saves in the defeat for the Rams, while junior goalkeeper Mike Dougherty made nine saves in the victory for the Golden Eagles.
St. Joseph’s College now receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National tournament, a first for their men’s soccer program. Farmingdale will await word to see if they receive a bid to the ECAC tournament beginning next week.
