Early Scoring Helps Rams Improve to 2-0 in Skyline

Newburgh, N.Y. – In a match up of the early season leaders in the Skyline Conference, Farmingdale State College defeated Mount Saint Mary College, 3-1, in this afternoon’s men’s soccer game in Newburgh, N.Y. The road win improved the Rams to 2-0 in Skyline Conference play.

Junior forward Marcos Cipra (Long Beach, NY / Long Beach) opened the scoring for Farmingdale State 41 seconds into the game, giving his team the early 1-0 lead, before sophomore forward Ryan Paul (Sayville, NY / Sayville) would tack on a second goal for the Rams in the 26th minute of play. Farmingdale State held their 2-0 lead until the 44:17 mark when Mike Del Rosso (New Milford, Conn. / New Milford) scored a goal from Jon Gasiewski cutting Mount Saint Mary’s deficit in half.

In the second half, Paul scored his second goal of the contest on a pass from Nick Pancotto (Islip, NY / Islip). Farmingdale State goalkeeper Patrick Gubbins (East Patchogue, NY / Bellport) made two saves in the victory, Paul Aries (Nashua, N.H / Suffield Academy) had eight saves in the defeat for Mount Saint Mary.

The Rams will host City College of New York on Monday, October 6th at 4:00 pm.
