
Scarlet Raiders Second Half Comeback Defeats Rams

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The visiting Rutgers-Newark
Scarlet Raiders defeated the Farmingdale State Rams today, 3-1, in
non-conference men's soccer action in Farmingdale, N.Y.
Senior midfielder Thomas Mueller (Babylon, N.Y./Babylon) scored just four minutes into the game for a 1-0 Farmingdale State lead and the Rams held Rutgers scoreless in the first for the one goal edge at the half. But Rutgers-Newark used the second to make their comeback using a 10-1 shot advantage and three goals to take the victory.
Scarlet Raider goals came from by sophomore forward Jeff Vazquez (New Milford, N.J./New Milford), sophomore midfielder Estiven Benitez (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills) and senior forward Joe Caamano (Linden, N.J./Linden). Sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Perdelwitz (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) made two saves in the win.
Junior goalkeeper Patrick Gubbins (East Patchogue, N.Y./Bellport) made seven saves in defeat for Farmingdale State.
The Rams will now host City Tech on Saturday, September 13th at 1:00 p.m.
