Rams Fall to Red Dragons in Season Opener

Oneonta, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's
soccer team opened their 2008 schedule today, but fell 1-0 at
Oneonta State's Red Dragon Field, in the season opener for both
teams.
Oneonta sophomore Larry Pestana (Valhalla, N.Y. / Westlake) scored the lone goal of the day in the 69th minute of play to help the Red Dragons earn the victory. Pestana's goal came on a pass from classmate Gary Laronde (Wheatley Heights, N.Y. / Half Hollow Hills) inside the box where Pestana then placed it into a open left side of the goal to put Oneonta on the board.
Freshman keeper, Max Siegelman (Roslyn, N.Y. / Roslyn) made one save in goal for the Red Dragons while earning his first collegiate victory in the net. Junior Patrick Gubbins (East Patchogue, N.Y. / Bellport) made five saves in goal for Farmingdale State.
The Rams will return to action on Saturday, September 6th for the home opener at 1:00 p.m against Brooklyn College.
