St. Joe's Rallies to Defeat Rams

- Rams fall in Skyline Semifinals to St. Joe's -

St. Joseph's - 3, Farmingdale - 2

Patchogue, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team held a 2-0 lead in the Skyline Conference Semifinals, but a three goal rally in a 13-minute span proved too much as St. Joseph's took the 3-2 win on Thursday afternoon in Patchogue, N.Y. The Rams fell to 10-10 overall, while St. Joe's improved to 14-4-3 and advance to the Skyline Finals on Sunday afternoon against Old Westbury.

Rams senior forward Andrew Whilby (St. Albans, N.Y./Wolmers Boys School) opened the scoring for the day, after a 0-0 tie at the half, in the 59th minute with an assist from junior midfielder Thomas Mueller (Babylon, N.Y./Babylon). Junior midfielder Bryant Rodriguez (Elmont, N.Y./Sewanhaka) gave Farmingdale a two goal lead just five minutes later with an unassisted goal.

But St. Joe's got on the board at 66:26 in a scramble in front of the net with a goal by Adam Rogers, before Stephen Zaech added the final two goals at 76:32 and 79:54 to put the Golden Eagles up 3-2 with 10 minutes left.

Farmingdale's sophomore goalkeeper Patric Gubbins (East Patchogue, N.Y./Bellport) made five saves in defeat.

The Rams will now await word of a possible ECAC bid.
