Maritimes Second Half Spark Overpowers Rams

Maritime College - 3, Farmingdale State - 2

Farmingdale, N.Y. - After leading at halftime 1-0, Maritime (11-4, 6-0) scored three quick goals in the first ten minutes of the second half to go up 3-1 and would hold on for a 3-2 Skyline Conference victory over Farmingdale State (7-8, 4-2) this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. Senior midfielder Andrew Jardine (Centereach, N.Y./Our Saviour New American) scored the opening goal for the Rams just seven minutes in.

Maritime's freshman midfielder Patrick Masango (Baltimore, Md./Phs Kumba) tied it up at 45:30 with a shot in close from the right side into the lower left corner. The next two goals were scored by junior forward Mayer Nelson (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington), both unassisted, to give the Privateers a two goal lead.

Farmingdale had many chances late in the second to tie it up. Senior forward Andrew Whilby (St. Albans, N.Y./Wolmers Boys School) connected in the 83rd minute off a pass from freshman midfielder Paul Leite (North Massapequa, N.Y./Plainedge). The Rams comeback fell short as Maritime freshman goalkeeper Harris Papson (Flushing, N.Y./Francis Lewis) made four crucial saves in his 29 minutes of play.

Farmingdale sophomore goalkeeper Patric Gubbins (East Patchogue, N.Y./Bellport) made one save in defeat.

The Rams will play in another conference game on Saturday, October 20th at 3:00 p.m. at the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale, N.Y.
