New York, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's soccer team
scored a program record nine goals in a game in a 9-0 Skyline
Conference victory over Yeshiva University on Tuesday night in New
York, N.Y. The Rams improved to 1-6, 1-0 Skyline with the win,
while Yeshiva fell to 0-2, 0-2 in the Skyline. Junior forward
Prince Eltosam (Bronx, N.Y./Christopher Columbus) scored a
team-high three goals in the win.
Eltosam opened the scoring in the sixth minute off an assist from senior forward Andrew Whilby (Saint Albans, N.Y./Wolmers Boys School). Just under ten minutes later, Farmingdale junior midfielder Bryant Rodriguez (Elmont, N.Y./Sewanhaka) intercepted a clear attempt and netted a shot for a 2-0 lead. Whilby scored the third Rams goal, beating one of the Yeshiva defenders one-on-one and rocketing a shot from outside. Eltosam added two more goals on a cross and a corner, before senior forward Carmile Sottile scored the sixth goal just before the end of the half.
In the second, the Rams added three more goals from sophomore midfielder Frank Volante (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Farmingdale), freshman midfielder Alex Torres (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) and freshman midfielder Roger Lane (Ozone Park, N.Y./Saint Francis Prep).
The Farmingdale goalkeepers split time in net, sophomore Patric Gubbins (East Patchogue, N.Y./Bellport) got the win and freshman Paulo Vargas (Tarapoto, Peru/Lindenhurst) made two saves in 54 minutes of play.
The Rams will host Bard College on Saturday, September 22nd for another Skyline Conference game at 1:00 p.m.
