Rams Score Final Three in Conference Win

Riverdale, NY - The Farmingdale men's soccer team defeated Mount Saint Vincent (3-11-1, 0-8 Skyline) today to keep their chances alive for a post-season conference championship berth. The Rams (9-7-2, 5-3-1) scored three goals after trailing 1-0 at halftime, to take a 3-1 conference victory over the Dolphins.

Mount Saint Vincent's Michael Hernandez opened up the scoring with a transition goal in the 41st minute of play for a 1-0 lead at the half.

Junior forward Andrew Whilby (St. Albans, NY/Wolmers Boys School) tied the score at 1-1 with an unassisted breakaway goal at the start of the second half. The eventual game-winner was scored by sophomore midfielder Bryant Rodriguez (Elmont, NY/Sewanhaka) on a cross from freshman forward Ryan Paul (Sayville, NY/Sayville) to make it 2-1 with 35 minutes to go in the game. Whilby added the insurance goal, another breakaway, with a minute left to play.

Freshman goalkeeper Joseph Caccavale (West Islip, NY/West Islip) made four saves for the win, while Dolphins goalkeeper William Raftery made eight saves in defeat.
