Farmingdale, NY � The Farmingdale State men's soccer team shut out New York City College of Technology today 6-0 in their final home game of the season. The Rams improved to 8-7-2 overall, while City Tech dropped to 1-12-2. Junior forward Andrew Whilby (St. Albans, NY/Wolmer's Boys School) finished the game with one goal and three assists for Farmingdale State.
Farmingdale had trouble getting their offense going in the first half, until freshman defender Marcos Cipra (Long Beach, NY/Long Beach) opened the scoring in the 21st minute of play on a breakaway. Whilby scored the second goal for Farmingdale, faking out the goalie in front for the 2-0 lead. Freshman forward Frank Volante (Massapequa Park, NY/Farmingdale) added the third goal of the first half with an assist from Whilby.
In the second half, freshman forward Ryan Paul (Sayville, NY/Sayville) got on the board with a give-and-go pass from Whilby to make it 4-0 Rams. Volante scored his second of the day, putting away the deflection of Luke Mangogna's header that hit the post, at 47:18 to make it 5-0. The final goal was scored by sophomore forward Terrance Spencer (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore), assisted by Paul and freshman forward Richard Meusch (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon).
Senior midfielder Carlos Proano (Brentwood, NY/Brentwood), a Construction Management major, played his last home game today for Farmingdale. The Rams will play their final regular-season game on Wednesday, October 25th against Skyline opponent Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale, NY at 3:30pm.
