Rams Fall to #11 New Jersey City

Farmingdale, NY �Farmingdale men's soccer (5-5-2) fell today in a non-conference game against New Jersey City University (12-1-1). The Gothic Knights, who are ranked 11th in Division III, took a 3-1 lead in the first half and added two more in the second for the 5-1 victory.

New Jersey City's sophomore midfielder Patrick Thomas (Roselle, NJ/Roselle) opened up the scoring at 10:09 as he knocked in a pass from senior forward Juan Zuniga (Passaic, NJ/Passaic). Two minutes later, sophomore midfielder Christhian Acuna (East Newark, NJ/Harrison) registered the second goal sending a restart kick over the defense and into the top of the cage.

Farmingdale cut the deficit to one when freshman forward Ryan Paul (Sayville, NY/Sayville) took a through ball up the middle and around the goalie for the easy tip-in.

Senior midfielder Chris Palumbo (Spotswood, NJ/Spotswood) struck back for New Jersey City with the last goal of the first half just 30 seconds later, heading in a pass from Acuna. Freshman forward Frank Rosenthal (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) and sophomore defender Gonzala Dapia (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) added the final two goals for the Gothic Knights.

Freshman goalkeeper Patrick Gubbins (East Patchogue, NY/Bellport) allowed just two goals and made three saves in the second half, including two beautiful diving saves.

The Rams host Maritime College in a Skyline Conference game on Thursday, October 12th at 3:30pm.
