Whilby's Golden Goal Lifts Rams Over Manhattanville

Purchase, NY - Farmingdale's junior forward Andrew Whilby (St. Albans, NY/Wolmers Boys School) scored the game-winning goal 7:57 into overtime to lift the Rams over Manhattanville (5-4-2, 1-3-1 Skyline), 1-0, in a conference men's soccer game in Purchase, NY on Wednesday afternoon.

After two scoreless periods and a 19-4 shot advantage for Manhattanville, the game called for an extra overtime period, where freshman forward Ryan Paul (Sayville, NY/Sayville) sent a through ball up to Whilby who beat the keeper for the score and the win at 97:57. The conference victory improves the Rams overall record to 5-4-1, 2-2 in the Skyline and pushes them past the Valiants in the conference standings.

Freshman goalkeeper Joseph Caccavale (West Islip, NY/West Islip) made 11 saves for Farmingdale in the win, including 10 saves in the first two periods to keep the Rams chances alive.

Fran Notaristefano (Somers, NY/Somers) made two saves in defeat for Manhattanville.

The Rams will host Skyline opponent Mount Saint Mary this Saturday, October 7th at 1:00pm.
