Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's golf team captured the Skyline Conference Championship for the 12th time in program history this afternoon at the Bethpage State Park - Red Course. The Rams shot a final round score of 305 for a two-day total of 603 and a 65-stroke victory over Mount Saint Mary.
FSC's 65-shot margin of victory is a school record for the Skyline Conference Championship. The previous record was 57 strokes set back in 2013.
Farmingdale State freshmen Chris Iguchi (Centereach, N.Y.) and Brad Castaldy (Dix Hills, N.Y.) tied for medalist honors and were named Co-Players of the Year with two-day totals of 151. Iguchi posted an opening round of 74 and followed with a 77 today, while Castaldy carded a 76 on Monday and posted a final round 75. Castaldy's 75 was the lowest round on the course today.
Senior Brian Crawford (Stormville, N.Y.) opened with a 70 and shot 83 this afternoon for a two-day total of 153 and a third place finish. Freshman Kyle Zere (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) (78-76-154) placed fourth and junior Taylor Stoerback (St. James, N.Y.) recorded a final round 77 and finished tied for 18th.
Reid Robertson, the 2019 Skyline Conference Player of the Year, had a two-day total of 155 (74-81) and took fifth place.
FSC head coach George Cangero was tabbed the Skyline Conference Coach of the Year.
Farmingdale State received the conference's automatic bid into the 2021 NCAA Division III Championship at the Oglebay Resort and Conference Center in Wheeling, WV on May 11-14.
