Farmingdale, N.Y. - Senior Brian Crawford (Stormville, N.Y.) fired a career-low round of 70 to lead Farmingdale State at the first round of the Skyline Conference Golf Championship at the Bethpage State Park - Red Course.

The Rams shot a team total of 298 and are 39 shots ahead of second place Mount Saint Mary (337). Manhattanville (342), St. Joseph's-Long Island (346) and Yeshiva (347) are in third, fourth and fifth place, respectively.

This is the first time since 2017 that Farmingdale State broke 300 in the Skyline Conference Championship. Also, the 39-stroke lead after the opening round is a school record. Before today, the largest lead the Rams have ever held was 37 shots in 2013.

Crawford, who leads by four strokes individually, was 3-over par before chipping in for eagle on 16 and closing with a birdie on 18 for his even par round of 70. Freshman Chris Iguchi (Centereach, N.Y.) shot a 74 and is currently tied for second with defending champion Reid Robertson from Manhattanville. Freshman Brad Castaldy (Dix Hills, N.Y.) posted a career-best round of 76 and is in fourth place, while freshman Kyle Zere (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) (fifth place) carded a 78 for FSC.

The final round of the championship will be held on Friday, April 30th with the first tee-time at 9:30 a.m.

The winner of the Skyline Championship will earn the conference's automatic bid into the 2021 NCAA Division III Championship at the Oglebay Resort and Conference Center in Wheeling, WV on May 11-14.
