Shawnee on Delaware, Penn. - Senior Chris Fischer (Mineola, N.Y.) led the Farmingdale State men's golf team after firing an even par round of 72 in the first round of the 2018 Montgomery Cup hosted by Rosemont College at the Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort. The Rams posted a first day team total of 308 and are in eighth place out of 12 teams heading into today's final round.

Fischer was +1 through 16 holes and birdied the par 4 17th before closing with a par on 18 to post a 72, which has him tied for seventh place individually. Junior Brian Crawford (Stormville, N.Y.) opened with a 76 (+4) and is T30, while senior Jamie Jones (Uttoxeter, UK) shot 79 (T40) for FSC.

York (PA) posted a six-under par team total of 282 and leads Franklin & Marshall (285) by three strokes. Allegheny College (287) and McDaniel College (288) are in third and fourth place, respectively.

Individually, Casey Leebrick (67) of York (PA) holds a two shot lead over four players tied at 69.

Farmingdale State begins today's final round at 12:30 p.m.
