- Four Rams claim major weekly awards -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Fall weekly report #6 on Monday, October 8, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, men's golf, women's tennis and women's volleyball.

Women's Soccer Update (10-3-1, 4-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

FSC was 3-1 last week after recording wins over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn (7-0), Purchase (8-0) and #19 Swarthmore (1-0).

Junior goalkeeper Daniella Ford (Elmont, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week. Ford claimed her second honor of the season as she registered a 3-1 record (2-0 Skyline) with a .955 save percentage (21 svs., 1 GA) and a 0.31 goals against average for the Rams. She posted back-to-back, 10-save efforts against top-20 competition on the weekend, first against #2 and defending national champion Williams on Saturday and then in a 1-0 triumph one day later versus #19 Swarthmore. Ford also combined on two clean sheets in one-half-plus of play in a pair of Skyline contests. She leads the conference with a 0.75 goals against average on the season.

This week the women's soccer team will play two road conference games: Wednesday at Maritime @ 5:00 p.m. and Saturday at St. Joseph's-LI @ noon.

 

Women's Tennis Update (10-3, 4-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

In a pair of Skyline matches last week, the Rams were 2-0 with victories over Mount Saint Mary (5-4) and Sarah Lawrence (9-0).

Freshman Rosa Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) earned Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this year. She led the Rams to a four-match winning streak with decisions in her pair of matches at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles. Lettieri lost just five games in No. 2 singles play against Sarah Lawrence and Mount Saint Mary.

Junior Kayla Reidy (Sayville, N.Y.) claimed a spot on the Honor Roll after going 2-0 in singles and 1-1 in doubles competition.

This week Farmingdale State will close out the regular season with a road match at Purchase on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

 

Cross Country Update - Men's Full Report  - Women's Full Report

At the Highlander XC Challenge hosted by NJIT at Branch Brook Park in Newark, N.J. last week, the men's cross country team placed 8th of 31, while the women took 18th of 29 teams. 

Freshman Joshua Green (Shelter Island, N.Y.) and junior Erin Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) were each named Skyline Conference Runner's of the week. Green placed 19th in a time of 26:22, while Lettieri was the top Division III runner and took 10th out of 286 competitors in 18:50 at the NJIT Highlander XC Challenge.

This week the cross country teams will travel to Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park, N.Y. for the 19th Annual St. Joseph's Invitational on Saturday.

 

Men's Soccer Update (6-5, 2-2 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The men's soccer team was 1-1 last week with a 2-0 victory at Purchase and a 1-0 home loss to Merchant Marine. This week FSC will play two Skyline Conference games: Wednesday vs. Yeshiva @ 4:00 p.m. and Saturday at Mount Saint Mary @ noon.

 

Women's Volleyball Update (7-16, 4-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

In three matches last week, the women's volleyball team was 1-2 with a win over Purchase and losses to Mount Saint Vincent and NYU.

Junior middle blocker Kelsey Voiklis (Commack, N.Y.) was named to the Player of the Week Honor Roll after averaging 4.06 points per set.

Farmingdale State will play three matches this week: Thursday vs. St. Joseph's-LI @ 6:00 p.m. and Saturday at Misericordia @ noon and vs. Eastern Connecticut (at Misericordia) @ 2:00 p.m.

 

Men's Golf Update - Skyline Full Report

The Rams finished in 11th place out of 18 teams at the McDaniel Fall Invitational held at The Bridges Golf Club last week.

Junior Brian Crawford (Stormville, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll after posting rounds of 80 and 71 for a 13th place finish out of 90 golfers.

The men's golf team will compete in the Saratoga National Invitational hosted by Skidmore College this Saturday and Sunday.
