Greensboro, N.C. - The Farmingdale State men's golf team posted an opening score of 321 on the East Course at Grandover Resort in the first round of the 2018 NCAA Division III Championships. The Rams are currently in 40th place out of 42 teams after rain suspended play during the first round.

FSC was led by junior Chris Fischer (Mineola, N.Y.) who opened with a 6-over par 78 while junior Jamie Jones (Uttoxeter, UK) and freshman Nicholas Aurrichio (Nesconset, N.Y.) each posted rounds of 80.

Host school Guilford College and Emory University each shot 5-under rounds of 283 this morning. Individually, Zach Evans of Guilford (68) is one shot ahead of both Matt Organisak (Emory) and Ryan Isaacson (Wisconsin-Eau Claire) who carded rounds of 69.

Due to the forecast of rain and thunderstorms on Wednesday, the entire field will begin second round action with a shotgun start at 11:00 a.m. The teams which were unable to complete their first rounds will resume at 8:00 a.m. Farmingdale State will play with #2 Huntingdon, #9 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and defending National Champion Whittenberg. After completion of the second round, the field will be cut to the top-18 teams and six low individuals not from the advancing schools.
