Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's golf team won the Skyline Conference Championship for the 10th time in school history this afternoon after posting a two-day total of 586 at the Bethpage State Park - Red Course. The Rams followed an opening round of 292 with a 294 today to earn a 55-stroke victory over runner-up Mount Saint Mary College (641).

Junior Chris Fischer (Mineola, N.Y.) claimed medalist honors with a Skyline Championship scoring record of 142. The previous record of 143 was set by former Farmingdale State golfer Adam Larkin in 2013. Fischer, who opened with a 69, posted a 73 today and claimed a 1-shot victory over teammate Andrew Goldman (Hauppauge, N.Y.). Goldman, who placed second, carded rounds of 72 and 71 for a two-day total of 143. Sophomore Gary Cohan (Kings Park, N.Y.) finished in fifth place with a total of 152 (77-75), while junior Joe Itzkowitz (Smithtown, N.Y.) took sixth place individually after rounds of 75 and 80. Junior Jack Truncale (Nesconset, N.Y.) (8th place) posted a final round 75 this afternoon for the Rams.

Farmingdale State has earned the conference’s automatic bid into the 2018 NCAA Division III Championships at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C. in May.
