Fischer Paces Rams as FSC Leads Skyline Championship by 29 Strokes

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men’s golf team posted an opening total of 292 at the first round of the Skyline Conference Championship at the Bethpage State Park – Red Course this afternoon. The Rams currently hold a 29-stroke lead over Mount Saint Mary (321) heading into tomorrow’s final round.

Junior Chris Fischer (Mineola, N.Y.) led the way for FSC and holds a three-shot advantage after a career-best round of 69 (-1). Senior Andrew Goldman (Hauppauge, N.Y.) carded a two-over par 72, while junior Joe Itzkowitz (Smithtown, N.Y.) posted a 74 for the Rams.

Dylan Legg (72) of Mount Saint Mary and Goldman are tied for second place individually.

Tomorrow’s final round begins at 9:00 a.m with the winner receiving the conference’s automatic bid into the 2018 NCAA Division III Championships at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C. in May.
