FSC Athletics Fall Update #4

- Ozimek named Player of the Week & O'Brien tabbed Runner of the Week -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Fall weekly report #4 on Monday, October 2, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis and women's volleyball.

Women's Soccer Update (4-4-2, 2-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams posted Skyline victories over both Mount Saint Vincent (2-0) and Old Westbury (7-0) last week.

Freshman forward Miranda Ozimek (Centerport, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week. Ozimek picked up game-winning goals in both of the Rams' Skyline triumphs last week, ending the stint with three goals overall. She put home both FSC goals in a shutout victory over Mount Saint Vincent and added the opening score in a shutout win against Old Westbury.

This week FSC will play three games: Tuesday vs. St. Joe's-Bklyn @ 5:00 p.m., Thursday vs. Purchase @ 7:00 p.m. and Saturday at #4 Williams @ 11:30 a.m.

 

Cross Country Update - Men's Full Report  - Women's Full Report

At the MSMC Knight Invitational held at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome, the women placed third, while the men took 11th.

For the men, sophomore James O'Brien (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Runner of the Week. O'Brien placed second out of a 220-runner field at Saturday's Mount Saint Mary Invitational, completing the 8,000-meter loop in a time of 27:16. For the women, sophomore Erin Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) recorded an 11th place finish in 25:41 and was tabbed to the Honor Roll.

This week the cross country teams will head to Branch Brook Park in Newark, N.J. for the Highlander XC Challenge.

 

Men's Soccer Update (5-3, 2-2 Skyline) - Full Report

The men's soccer team was a perfect 3-0 last week with wins over Medgar Evers (7-0), Yeshiva (5-1) and St. Joe's-Bklyn (5-2).

Senior defender Gerard Farrell (Floral Park, N.Y.) was named to the Player of the Week Honor Roll after tallying a team-high nine points on the week. Farrell scored three goals (including two game-winners) and added three assists for the Rams. 

Farmingdale State has one game this week when they play host to Maritime on Tuesday @ 7:00 p.m.

 

Women's Volleyball Update (7-7, 2-0 Skyline) - Full Report

In four matches last week, FSC was 2-2 and carded conference victories over both Mount Saint Mary (3-1) and Sarah Lawrence (3-0).

Sophomore setter Julia Hande (Islip, N.Y.) was tabbed to the Honor Roll after leading the team in kills (35), digs (57) and aces (9). She posted averages of 2.5 kills, 4.07 digs and 0.64 service aces per set in the Rams' four matches.

The women's volleyball team is slated to play four matches this week: Wednesday vs. York @ 6:00 p.m., Thursday at William Paterson @ 7:00 p.m. and Saturday vs. Delaware Valley (2:00 p.m.) and Staten Island (4:00 p.m.). The two matches on Saturday will be at the College of Staten Island. 

 

Women's Tennis Update (4-6, 1-2 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams were 1-1 in a pair of Skyline matches last week with an 8-1 win versus St. Joe's-Bklyn and a 5-4 loss at St. Joe's-LI.

Junior Carolann La Monica (Islip, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll after going 2-0 at #4 singles and 2-0 at #2 doubles.

This week Farmingdale State will play two matches: Tuesday at Mount Saint Mary @ 6:00 p.m. and Saturday vs. Sarah Lawrence @ noon.

 

Men's Golf Update

The men's golf team placed third out of nine teams at the 2017 FSC Fall Invitational at Bethpage Red. Senior Andrew Goldman (Hauppauge, N.Y.) led the way for the Rams with a T3 finish after posting rounds of 74 and 72.

 

FSC will host their Skyline Invitational at Bethpage Red this Friday at 10:00 a.m.
