Downingtown, Penn. - The Farmingdale State men's golf team earned a 3-2 victory over Lynchburg College in the finals at the 2017 Montgomery Cup hosted by Rosemont College.
Senior Andrew Goldman (Hauppauge, N.Y.) played a bogey-free match en route to a 9&8 victory over Lynchburg's Justin Wimmer. Sophomore Gary Cohan (Kings Park, N.Y.) was all square with Josh Irby after three holes and rattled off four straight birdies to take a 4 UP lead through seven. He recorded pars on the remaining six holes for the 6&5 victory. Junior Chris Fischer (Mineola, N.Y.) earned the championship-winning point after a birdie on 18 capped off a 1 UP victory over Joel Choi.
The Rams next will host the FSC Fall Invitational at Bethpage State Park - Red Course on Saturday, September 30th and Sunday, October 1st.
