Downingtown, Penn. - The fourth-seeded Farmingdale State men's golf team earned a 3-2 victory over #1 Franklin & Marshall in the semifinals of match play this morning at the 2017 Montgomery Cup. The Rams advance to this afternoon's finals and will face the winner of #2 York (PA)/#3 Lynchburg College.
FSC junior Chris Fischer (Mineola, N.Y.) cruised to a 7&6 victory over Jason Koshinski. Fischer took an early lead after winning five of the first six holes and closed out the match with a par on the par 3 12th hole. Junior Jack Truncale (Nesconset, N.Y.) was 5-up at the turn en route to a 4&3 victory, while senior Andrew Goldman (Hauppauge, N.Y.). dropped the first two holes of the match and answered with four birdies and an eagle to go on top by two after the front nine. Goldman earned the match-winning point for the Rams with a 3&2 victory.
