Men's Golf Season Recap

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's golf team closed out the 2016-17 season with a 41st place finish at the NCAA Division III National Championships held at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.

The Rams captured the Long Island Intercollegiate Championship at Bellport Country Club after a two-day score of 622 (311-311). Sophomore Joe Itzkowitz (St. James, N.Y.) posted a career-best runner-up finish with rounds of 76 and 75.

At the Rosemont Raven Invitational at Downingtown Country Club, FSC tied for second in the 19-team field with scores of 314 and 318. The Rams won their first tournament of the spring season at Orange County National with a 21-shot victory over Luther College.

Farmingdale State closed out the fall season with their ninth Skyline Conference Championship in school history. FSC earned a 20-stroke win (294-308-602) over runner-up Mount Saint Mary as freshman Ryan Scanlon (Huntington Station, N.Y.) took medalist honors (70-75-145). Junior Andrew Goldman (Hauppauge, N.Y.) was named First Team All-Conference with a T4 finish, while senior Matt Burnett (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and sophomore Chris Fischer (Mineola, N.Y.) earned Second Team honors after finishing in sixth and eighth, respectively.

The Rams also carded victories in the fall at the St. Joseph's-LI Invitational, the FSC Skyline Invitational and in a dual match versus Nassau CC.

Farmingdale State graduated one senior this season.
