Bellport, N.Y. - In the opening round of the Long Island Intercollegiate Championship at Bellport Country Club, the Farmingdale State men's golf team posted a team total of 311 and lead by five strokes over host school St. Joseph's-LI.
The Rams were led by sophomore Joe Itzkowitz (St. James, N.Y.) who is in fifth place individually after firing a career-low round of 76. Junior Andrew Goldman (Hauppauge, N.Y.) carded a 77 (sixth place), while senior Matt Burnett (Farmingdale, N.Y.) shot a first round 78.
Patrick Standard of St. Joseph's-LI leads after a 2-over par 73, while Suffolk CC's Pat O'Halloran (74) and Adelphi's Nick Kelapire (74) are one stroke back. Ross Moore of Nassau CC shot 75 and is in fourth place.
Farmingdale State will look to defend their title at the Long Island Intercollegiate Championship and will begin tomorrow's final round at 1:30 p.m.
