Downingtown, Penn. - The Farmingdale State men's golf team opened the season with a pair of 305's for a two round total of 610 at the 2016 Montgomery Cub held at Downingtown Country Club. The Rams earned the #2 seed for tomorrow's match play tournament after finishing six strokes behind top-seeded Rosemont (302-302-604).
FSC was led by freshman Ryan Scanlon (Huntington Station, N.Y.) who earned medalist honors after posting scores of 70 and 75 for a total of 145. Scanlon finished two strokes ahead of runner-up Stephen Vyu (77-70) from Rosemont.
Junior Andrew Goldman (Hauppauge, N.Y.) opened with a 74 and followed with a 75 to place third, while sophomore Ryan Reed (East Northport, N.Y.) totaled 155 (80-75) on the day.
Rounding out the four-team field were Marywood (674) and Division II University of the Sciences (683). The winner of each first round 18-hole match will compete for the championship over 18 holes of match play. The two first match losers, will play in a consolation 18-hole match.
