Skyline Releases Weekly Report #7

- Signore named Player of the Week; Cosgrave tabbed Rookie of the Week -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Fall weekly report #7 on Monday, October 19, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis and women's volleyball.

Women's Tennis Update (11-2, 7-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams went 3-0 last week as they posted a 9-0 victory over Purchase and 8-1 wins against both St. Joseph's (L.I.) and St. Joseph's (Brooklyn).

Junior Priscilla Signore (Staten Island, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week. This mark's Signore's second weekly citation of the season (Sept. 28) as she was undefeated throughout three team matches at both No. 1 singles and doubles. Signore helped the Rams to the top seed in this week's Skyline Conference Championship.

As the #1 seed for the playoffs, the Rams will now host the Skyline Semifinals on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. against Sarah Lawrence. With a win, Farmingdale State would host the Championship on either Saturday or Sunday with the winner receiving the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament in May.

Women's Volleyball Update (10-9, 5-1 Skyline) - Full Report

Farmingdale State went 2-1 this week with 3-0 victories against Yeshiva and St. Joe's Brooklyn and a 3-0 loss at Mount Saint Vincent.

Freshman outside Annie Cosgrave (Bay Shore, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week. Cosgrave provided 2.78 kills per set on a 2-1 week for the Rams, including a .258 hitting percentage. She also registered averages of 1.78 digs and 0.44 service aces per set during the stretch.

The Rams have a busy week, traveling to Medgar Evers on Monday at 7:00 p.m., CCNY on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., William Paterson on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and closing out the week on Saturday at Sage with matches at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Women's Soccer Update (8-5-2, 5-1 Skyline) - Full Report

The women's soccer team went 3-0 this week with wins against St. Joseph's (2-0), Old Westbury (4-0) and Skidmore (1-0).

Senior midfielder Melissa Lijo* (Flushing, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll after netting a pair of goals in a 3-0 week for the Rams, including a game-winning free kick to the top-right corner at Old Westbury.

This week Farmingdale State will host Maritime on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m., travel to Sage on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. and head to Yeshiva on Friday at noon.

Men's Golf Update

The Rams wrapped up the fall season at the Skyline Conference Championship on Sunday and Monday, October 18-19, at Brynwood Golf & Country Club in Armonk, N.Y. Farmingdale State finished in second place - six strokes behind St. Joseph's.

Senior Scott Sessions (Pleasantville, N.Y.) earned Skyline Conference Player of the Year honors after recording an eight stroke victory at the Championship.

Cross Country Update - Full Report

The men's and women's cross country teams finished in 8th and 12th place, respectively, at the 16th annual St. Joseph's Invitational at Sunken Meadow Park. The men were led by junior Belony Borange (Valley Stream, N.Y.) in 26th place, while sophomore Nicole Franz (Huntington, N.Y.) in 43rd place.

This week the Rams will head to the Skyline Conference Championship on Sunday, October 25th in Milton, N.Y. at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome.

Men's Soccer Update (7-7-1, 4-2-1 Skyline) - Full Report

The men's soccer team finished the week with a win over Sage (3-0), a tie against Old Westbury (0-0 2OT) and a loss at Stockton (5-0).

The Rams will travel to face Mount Saint Vincent on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. and host their final regular-season home game on Saturday at Noon (Senior day for our four graduating seniors).
