Sayville, N.Y. - Dowling College posted an impressive round one score of 283 (-1) and currently holds a 27-stroke lead over St. Joseph's College at the Long Island Intercollegiate Championship at Island Hills Country Club. Farmingdale State shot 316 and is in third place out of six teams after today's first round.
Senior Matt Pollock (Northport, N.Y.) carded a team-best score of 76 (+5), while junior Scott Sessions (Pleasanville, N.Y.) shot a 79. Senior Rocco Costa (Massapequa, N.Y.) pitched in with an opening round of 80 for the Rams.
Dowling's Charlie Loy shot a tournament record score of 66 (-5) and has a 5-stroke lead over teammate Kris Lantz. Brian Allmendinger of Dowling and Chris Lambrou from Nassau CC each recorded 72's and are tied for third place individually.
Tomorrow's final round begins with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m.
